At Cedarwood Academy, our outdoor classroom and indoor spaces serve as a preschool, an independent private school for children ages 5 and over, and a unique environment for enrichment activities. Curricula for all of our programs are discovery-based, consistent with the best developmentally appropriate practices defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and on grade-level for traditional schooling. Our current community includes children between the ages of 2-12, with a growing age span each year.

Programs 2022-23Elementary: Kindergarten -Grade 5 (M-Th 9:00-3:00) In addition to discovery- and-project-based learning that addresses the areas of science, social studies, arts, music and more, in this class the children work on their (1) reading skills via All About Reading Curriculum (2) spelling skills via All About Spelling Curriculum (3) writing skills via Handwriting without Tears Curriculum (4) math skills via Singapore Dimensions Curriculum. Enrichment Fridays : Kindergarten - Grade 3 (F 9:00-3:00) To enhance our understanding of the world around children explore a variety of activities such as nature walks, gardening, preparing community lunch, and participating in a Marketplace project. Field Mondays: Grades 4-5, Middle School (M 9:00-3:00) To apply information learned the students take trips, engage in project-based application of concepts that interest them, and volunteer in the community. Middle : 6th-8th Grade Class (T-F 9:00-3:00) In addition to discovery- and-project-based learning that addresses the areas of science, social studies, arts, music and more, in this class the children work on their (1) Literacy skills via Moving Beyond the Page Curriculum (2) Math skills via Khan Academy |
